Bone Spurs

Bone Spurs are tiny bony projections that often develop at the joints. They are most commonly caused by osteoarthritis. Bone spurs may not be noticeable depending on where they are located. In the hands, they can make your joints look swollen and knobby. Bone spurs are not always painful, but over-the-counter pain relievers can be used to alleviate discomfort. In some cases, bone spurs can press on nerves or decrease your range of flexibility. In these more severe cases, bone spurs may be removed with surgery.
