Hand Fractures, Dislocations and Trauma-Related Injuries

The human hand has 27 bones, all of which can be broken or injured during a fall or accident. Some symptoms of broken bones or hand fractures include swelling, tenderness, immobility, or deformity. Dr. Rubinstein can diagnose most broken bones during a physical examination or with an x-ray. A cast or a splint is usually used to realign broken bones. More serious injuries may be treated with surgery. Follow up appointments are often necessary to ensure that the injury is healing properly.
