Joint Replacements
Joint Replacement Surgery is used to improve joint mobility or functionality by replacing a faulty joint with a metal or plastic prosthesis. Depending on the patient’s condition, sometimes only part of the joint may be replaced. Hips and knees are the most commonly replaced joints, but fingers, shoulders, ankles and elbows can also benefit from joint replacement surgery. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common reasons people have joint replacements. A prosthetic joint lasts about 10-15 years and prosthetic technology continues to improve all the time.
