Steroid Injections
Corticosteroid injections are commonly used to treat inflammatory diseases and conditions including arthritis. Steroid injections deliver medicine directly to the treatment area to alleviate symptoms quickly with few side effects. The steroid is often combined with a pain reliever to treat both the swelling and discomfort caused by arthritis. The effects usually last from several weeks to several months, making steroid injections an effective although temporary treatment option for arthritis. Patients should wait at least three to four months between injections.
